Drug Offenses

Powerful Defense of Your Rights and Liberties

Drug crimes can have serious consequences you may not be aware of. Conviction of a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge mandates a loss of your Alabama driver's license for six months. You could lose your license for a year on some felony charges in addition to large fines and possible incarceration.

If you have been charged with a drug crime of any kind, including possession, distribution, manufacturing or trafficking, you may need serious defense to help you protect your future. You may also need an attorney who knows the ropes who can help you enter into a good behavior or drug treatment program in order to keep the offense off your record. Contact me for powerful drug crime defense in Baldwin and Mobile County, Alabama.

A Strong Background in Criminal Law

As a former Baldwin County criminal prosecutor, I know how the other side works. I understand what they need to build a strong case and the tactics they will use during negotiation. Carrying this insight into my practice as a drug crimes defense attorney, I am able to relay to you all of your possible options and allow you to make an educated decision as to how you wish to proceed with your case.

Types of Drug Crimes

A majority of the cases I handle are misdemeanor or felony cases involving marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamine. Many others involve people who have misused prescription drugs or pills in general. Charges which I commonly defend include, but are not limited to:

  • Possession of marijuana in 1st or 2nd degree
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlawful distribution of a controlled substance
  • Unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance
  • Trafficking

Drug Court

If accepted into the program, it "may" be favorable to have your case heard in drug court. In drug court, you will be sent through a drug rehabilitation program and subjected to random drug screenings for one to three years, depending on the charge, but upon successful completion, the charges will be completely dismissed from your record. It may also be possible to enter into a Pretrial Intervention Program through the prosecutor's office with similar requirements and potential results.

However, you can only enter into this program with the assistance of an experienced lawyer. We will discuss these options, among all others, in the privacy of my office by email or call 251-928-5588. I offer reasonable fees for my services.
